Teach me how to play

Sometimes i think im good, then i get hit with stuff i just dont understand, everyone seems to just understand how far their hitboxes reach and i dont understand them, so im always getting hit by things i think wouldnt reach, but then they're always outside of my range of attacks.

Also, how do i react to getting up? people will just stand there and either grab or continue attacking, and if you dive roll they just slide kick you, so how do you ever get up safetly? How do you react to people pressuring your shield, cause either way you unshield and get comboed, or eventually get grabbed

This is just experience. There is nothing to teach here.

You have to mixup your get ups, don't repeat the same getup over and over again. Delay your recovery and sometimes do it instantly. Your goal during get up is to either hit your opponent or to at least get your back away from the enemy.

This is about learning counter break points and where you can counter a scroll. A lot of it is experience and learning the delays and recoveries of different scrolls. Also try changing the angle of your guard while someone is hitting you, this will make it harder for them to land a grab and it may push you out of their combo and you'll be able to punish them.

 

About the getting up part.

You could either stand up and immediately grab. Or just stand up without recovery moves and anticipate there next move.

It really depend in how you and your opponent play. Agressive or defensive?

Go to tutorial and practice the scroll of your choice, and learn the combos. Expect to get stomped and finally.....
