That's interesting. I'm not really a religious guy ( I mean I want to believe there's a god but I don't. And it's not like you just wake up one morning and say you've seen the light), but that doesn't stop me from looking to see what these scripts teach. From what I understand, the commandment " You shall not take the lord's name in vain" means you can't do something that would be detrimental to somebody spiritually and then say you only did it because it's what god would have wanted, or something along those lines. For example when the Catholic Church started selling indulgences. If you don't know what an indulgence is, the Catholic Church pretty much said to the people in Europe "Hey, if you don't want yourself or someone you care about to burn in hell even though you've lived a life of debauchery, you can just PAY the church a fine and you/your loved one will be forgiven." Essentially the whole concept of indulgences violates commandment #3 because mortal men can't forgive or judge the sins of others. They used God's name in vain just so the church could have more money.
