Is this the only event May will have (besides the lame Sunday Showdown)?

Cause if it is I can't say this is a very good 10th anniversary. Unless your goal is to restrict giving out free permanent stuff to people, in which case you've done a stellar job with the complete lack of spenders and having only 3 winners out of the entire player base instead of 3 per room.

Is that the developer's actual goal? To lower the amount of free permanent items people are getting?

Am I reading this right? If a player just plays 250 team games or more, they're awarded 500 RC in the coming weeks after?

And do we still have to keep tabs on our accumulated games in a document somewhere? And does every one of the 250 team games need more than two players? And three rounds per game? And can we repeatedly jump to our deaths to count it?

I'd hate to go so far above and beyond the number of games out of fear of not being counted as a participant.

    Nice!

Now only 30 people can possibly win the participation prize! And you've made it even more obvious that you want to limit free stuff given to too many people even more.

Sunday Showdown's only having 3 winners replacing Fisticuffs having 3/7 players win was the start. Now the participation reward for Rivalry is for at most 30 people. I see a pattern here!

It's good we know now that Red Fox cares a great about too many people getting free stuff so that people buy more RC.

In the Fisticuffs thread announcing the end of Fisticuffs, you didn't list that having too many people win free stuff was a motivation. Now we know not to trust any of RedFox's given reasons now!

I knew it was a good idea not to give any real answers for the most wanted items thread. Thanks for showing RedFox's true colors!

i cant say about the Sunday Showdown, but for this change of making it top 30, I think this is for a different reason. I think their reasoning for this is to prevent ppl from just suiing and getting the top 250 games to get the participation prize.

At first, I was pretty upset they decided to limit it to 30 ppl only having the participation prize, because there are a ton of other options that they could have gone with to prevent ppl from suiing to get the 250 games in, but the more i think about it, i think this is the best solution that does not have any real impact except for preventing ppl from suiciding 250 games. If you look at last month's board, only 14 ppl were able to play 250+ games. so technically following that , even if we had 2x players get 250+ games, it would still be less than 30. I think we'll have to see how it goes at the end of the month, but i think the impact is not as much as we think

This is a solved issue in other games, and other solutions they could have done to prevent ppl from suiciding to get 250 games in for participation prize is:
    • enforce a lp cutoff. Ex. players with 1,000 LP or more will get participation prize
    • enforce a certain number of wins. Ex: players who won more than 100 games will be eligible for participation prize
    • Enforce players to get top X to be eligible for participation prize // <-- GMs chose this solution
Picking the 3rd solution would be very limiting and would be a problem if more and more players got 250 games, so i think they will adjust next month's requiremnt if they see that the top 30 is too big of an enforcement or not

They changed it such that you need to be top 30 and play 250+ games to be eligible to get the 500 rc in participation prize.

And ideally no, players cannot jump to deaths to count it - I believe thats why they added the extra requirement of needing to be top 30

    1 "match" = 1 game

Generally the events this year have been mostly crap (and I mean events, not features such as Guilds returning).

For an event to be good, the following things need to be true:

1: Rewards must be permanent and substantial

People do not care for temporary 3 day scrolls much, those are neat but don't offer anything lasting. Consumables are not the worst but they're not great either. For stuff like the Happy Hour login, a lot of stuff was just 3 day scrolls that no one really wanted that badly, mixed in with stuff that was decent.

So people want actual ITEMS, clothing, scrolls, exos, stuff that is permanent and substantial. 500 RC is a good start IMO but there's an issue with this event that I'll talk about later.

2: Events should encourage rarer gamemodes

Your current event pushes Teams, which means most people play Cove. I don't like Teams much personally, but even if I did, I'd rather have events push stuff like Moving Screen, King of the Hill, etc.

3: Events should not require a huge devotion.

This event requires 250 games of Teams. This isn't December where we have the holidays, that's 10 games of Teams for 25 days. I do not like Teams, so I don't want to play it that much. But even if you DID like Teams, 250 games over a month is quite a lot, and it's all the SAME game mode. This is too much to ask for, 500 RC is $5 and that's not worth the amount of time to put in.

4: Events should be transparent, clear, and not falsely advertised

If it's a PARTICIPATION reward, it should be given for PARTICIPATING. This Rivalry Rumble's reward of 500 RC is NOT a participation reward and RedFox is falsely advertising it as such because it's only given to the top 30 people. You're lying to people that it's a participation reward, it's actually a Top 30 teams players award.

Sunday Showdown had this issue with the 3 rewards being only the top 3 players of the entire event rather than top 3 for each room.

So far RedFox has FAILED on all fronts. They've poorly labelled events as being one thing when they're actually another, given a lot of timed stuff, and made events that do nothing but keep the game in it's same stale state. Lackluster and awful.

Agreed, I have not logged in over a month because I am not trying to do 250 games lol. I started playing again last year after like 9 years, but events like these don't incentivize me to play. We need perms and anything but cove lol. We are adults, and we need flexibility.
