    Hello Dragons!

Since the recent update patch 254-255, we have recieved new weapons through the revamped CoF/VoH dungeons. This has led to a bit off a discussion within the community, on wheter it's a bad update or not. And it has spiraled down on how damage actually works and how to scale it. In this guide I will try to clear things up a little bit. And this has been mostly confirmed by Gms. Part 1

First thing here is one of the new weapons:
    Cof weap.JPG
Lets compare this to what was the best mid game weapon before this patch:
    Repel +15.JPG
On first glance you would assume that the Repel weapon does more damage right? While that is true in a sense it's also false. You see as a naked character you would choose Repel over the new xtreme anytime, but by the time you have these weapons, you will also have aquired relics. And this is where the xtreme weapons will over power the Repels. (Also you can't refine/trade options with xtreme weapons)

Because you see, relics will have stats as increase damage, increase damage on crit hit and weapon damage increase. Now damage on crit and weapon damage increases damage by %.

The important stat in this guide is weapon damage, this stat will make it so that you scale your damage based of off you weapons base state, as you saw repel base states are 2.8k - 4.1k while xtreme is at a whopping 7.3k - 10k. While the repel has + 13.6k added damage, that doesn't count towards the base weapons damage it self, it's just a number added towards the damage pool you have.

Added damage such as refine, weapon ornament doesn't get affected by weapon % damage, which in this case makes Repel inferior to xtreme.

    Part 2

Which weapon ornament should I choose?
There are two main stats for ornaments you want in your weapon. Added damage and critical damage. As far as I know there aren't any ornament that gives both of these stats at the same time, so we will make it easier by comparing two different ornaments that adds the same stats:
    cof orn.JPG Dmg orn.JPG
We focus on the damage numbers here, since I said in part 1 that weapon damage would be the important factor top scale damage. The ornament to the right is missleading since it is miss translated, it does add max damage but it does not affect your weapons max damage. It just adds 2k increased damage to what's already there, so the description should be Maximum Damage increased by 2000, Ahri said that they will look into it and change the description.

So the sunken jade in this case is the superior ornament to have on your weapon.
