    9Dragons Service Continuation Notice [Update] – March 4, 2026 15:45

We would like to inform everyone that, as of today, Masangsoft and RedFox have reached an agreement for RedFox to continue providing service for 9Dragons as the publisher.

Many of you have been asking about the future of the service, and we are pleased to officially confirm that the service will continue.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Hello Dragons,

We are aware that many players have concerns following the recent transfer of the 9Dragons IP from Joongwon Games to Masangsoft. We would like to take this opportunity to share the current status with you.

At this time, there have been no changes to our service.

Even if any changes were to occur in the future, we would fully support a transfer process to ensure that all of your items and credits are safely preserved. Therefore, there is no need to worry.

We will continue to keep you informed should there be any updates.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

    Best regards,
    9Dragons Team

I used to play this game back when Acclaim entertainment hosted it. It was a buggy mess back then, by the state of the server its still a buggy mess more than 10 years later ?

I appreciate the update, but I’m struggling to see how this really addresses the core concern.

Saying that there’s no issue “at this time” doesn’t offer much reassurance. Most of us aren’t worried about the present moment — we’re thinking about what happens six months or a year from now. Long-term stability and continuity are what matter here.

Similarly, stating that you would support a transfer is positive in principle, but it doesn’t fully resolve the concern. If another party were to take over publishing, there’s no guarantee they would be interested in acquiring or maintaining the existing database. In that case, whether you’re willing to support a transfer may not make a practical difference.

What many of us are really looking for is clearer information about long-term plans and safeguards. Greater transparency around that would go a long way toward building confidence in the future of the project.

I asked AI what it thinks about GM post. Here what it thinks:
Based on that statement alone, I would be cautious about assuming long-term stability.

First, the IP has already transferred from Joongwon Games to Masangsoft. When intellectual property changes hands, the long-term publishing situation often depends on licensing agreements that the public doesn’t see. The forum post doesn’t clarify:

    • Whether their publishing license is long-term or short-term

    • Whether it has already been renegotiated

    • Whether Masangsoft plans to self-publish globally

    • What happens if the license is not renewed
Saying “At this time, there have been no changes to our service” only confirms the present state. It does not guarantee anything about 6–12 months from now.

The statement about supporting a transfer is reassuring in tone, but it’s also conditional. It implies that:

    • A change could happen.

    • They would assist with preserving items/credits.

    • It does not guarantee they will remain the publisher.
In situations like this, companies usually avoid making long-term guarantees unless contracts are already secured. If they had a multi-year confirmed publishing agreement, they would typically say something stronger, like “We have secured publishing rights for X years.”

So would I trust that the game will continue to be published by them for a long time?

    I would say:

    • Short term (next few months): Likely stable.

    • Medium to long term: Uncertain. The post doesn’t provide enough information to feel confident.
If long-term continuity matters to you, the more important questions would be:

    • Has Masangsoft confirmed their publishing strategy?

    • Does the current publisher have a fixed-term contract?

    • Is there an official roadmap or renewal announcement?
Without that, the message reads more like reassurance for the present rather than confirmation of long-term security.

    Timeline and Transitions
    • Acclaim Era (2007 – 2010): Acclaim Games released the game in the West in January 2007. This is considered the "golden age" by many veterans.
Transition to GamersFirst (2010): In August 2010, Acclaim ceased operations after being acquired by Playdom (and later Disney). The rights were transferred to GamersFirst (K2 Network).
NOTE: Players had to start from scratch (level 1) on GamersFirst on September 16th. (TOTAL WIPE)

    • Transition to GamesCampus (2011): In September 2011, after only one year, GamersFirst returned the rights to the developer Indy21, and GamesCampus took over publishing in Europe and North America.

NOTE: Unlike the previous transition, GamesCampus allowed the migration of GamersFirst accounts, preventing another wipe for those who followed the transfer procedures. But there was a partial rollback on the accounts.

    • RedFox Games Era (2016 – Present): In February 2016, RedFox Games took over the game, releasing a remastered version that remains active to this day, including its presence on Steam.

NOTE: With the change to RedFox, the game was re-released as a new version. Although it wasn't a server wipe, the old GamesCampus accounts were not migrated to the new RedFox system.

My perspective and thoughts on this subject.
One question remains regarding the transfer of Joongwon Games' rights to Masangsoft:

What are the risks for the end consumer (us, the players)?

This opens up a range of possibilities for MSANGSOFT, such as ending support with RedFoxGame, since the version we are using is not the official one and, as mentioned above, is a "remastered" version. The translations, items, etc... things that exist on the current original Joongwon server do not exist here, and/or are wrong, bugged, or have no use whatsoever on the server, and it is possible to collect some mob drops around the map.

MSANGSOFT could revoke RedFox's reproduction rights or force a new contract. Or even shut down the 9dragons servers altogether.

There are many things that are not mentioned here, so as not to cause panic among the players. However, I think it's safer not to invest any money until everything is properly explained or clarified regarding the official direction the game will take...
Especially since it went from being a free-to-play game to a full pay-to-win (P2W) game with a buy-and-sell (BSS) market.

As Masangsoft and RedFox continue to work together to support the service, we are preparing for the US 10th Anniversary event and will continue to do our best.

Can we get any information about when anniversary is going to start? Even if it got disrupted by the talks with new developer, and you don't know exactly when it's going to happen, at least give us approximation. Will it be within a week? A month? More?

Oke thats all nice and dendy that RF games keeps it going.
But can there also be more statement towards which direction the game is going?? Everything stays similar, so bss economy, bugs left and right and all around. Will there be there stuff done to improve for the players?
Basically this means nothing, what would be good news of u could imform more of the things issues addressed or direction is planned. Maybe even less Bss events, maybe some coding changes since it is so old and apparently nothing could have done with it.

That's great, GM, we're happy to hear that the server will remain active...

Now, regarding RedFoxGames' services, such as support, player tickets, and responses, because so far, RedFoxGames has been lacking in service delivery:

    I have tickets dating back to August 2025 that have never received a response;

One suggestion: you could resume the project of translating the game into other languages, such as Brazilian Portuguese. =P
