we've been getting semi to non flashy scrolls for a while now, tbh. The most flashy we've seen was Parkour.

To all wondering if spreadsheets are necessary. I think it can be.

A lot of the formats are different from each other, and it would actually be really convenient to have a format everyone will stick to.

The frame by frame thing makes sense. I understand that photoshop skills are required for this.

But I'll tell you what I did:

    download a program called: GIMP

This program is all I needed to get things going.

Step 1: download the spreadsheet Gourdy provided.

Step 2: open the spreadsheet through GIMP

Step 3: get the picture you want to use. Then, [File] --> [Open as Layers]

Step 4: use the rectangular select tool, and highlight the most important part of the picture. Copy and Paste

Step 5: Go to [Windows] --> [Recently Closed Docks] --> [Channels, Paths, Layers, Undo...]

Step 6: Right click [Floating Selection] in the layers window, and select [To New Layer]. Now it is a new layer.

Step 7: Delete the .jpg layer u have and keep the [Pasted Layer]

Step 8: Go to [Tools] --> [Toolbox]. Now u have the tools to start moving things around.

    Step 9: Enjoy the process!

For people who want help with Scroll creation, here's a guide Gonsegon made. I also contributed to the guide to fill in the details

Gifs is an advanced addition to the whole thing.

What you have to do to make the GIF work out is to constantly duplicate the whole layer, so the changes of the character's movement are also included.

If that didn't make sense, it's pretty much Step 3 to Step 7 over and over again

Once u are finished, go to [File] --> [Export As], rename the file that has .png or .jpg and replace it with .gif

    ex) ScrollSpreadsheet.png ---> ScrollSpreadsheet.gif

And then once u done, there's a popup telling you what to do with the animation timing. This is where trail and error takes place.

    I usually go with:

    [Frame disposal where unspecified]: Replace

Delay between frames should require adjusting if too fast or too slow

I have a link to help you with this:

You can view your .gif file by right clicking the file, and Open with an internet browser

Oh and I forgot to mention that you should keep the layers that you are duplicating for the gif movements.

And to make the layers window nice and tidy, it's recommend to utilize the [Merge Down] when right clicking the layer, so your character sticks to the background for the next animation

I hope that didn't sound too confusing

Yeah, I just want to put the gifs I posted earlier into the spread sheet. Since the spread sheet is mandatory it seems.

honestly u don't need to put the whole animation into the spreadsheet.

You can just simply skip to the stopping point of the attack where the movement is done already and supposedly connected as a hit.

It's a really challenging task to incorporate a gif into the spreadsheet. It's something that would even keep me busy for hours

You just need the still image of the attack pretty much

No problem. Another thing I must warn is that it might shock you how much frames a 60fps animation from a video game has. You'll have to search through every single one of the layer of frames one by one until you find the right one.

It could possibly be fragmented as a combination of layers to make a picture, which is super unfortunate. In that case, you should look through the layers without hiding the others.

I remembered this when I was trying to do stuff with 60fps video game gifs
