Read the books and practice it. Sounds like you haven't even looked at them.

Some of the books i have, their directions feel a little unclear. I look through one or two more than others though.

I have others, but for example i will start with one of the first books i obtained.

Mark crilley's mastering manga( i picked up his book because i honestly felt i learned something from his On-demand htd videos)

And yet, when i get the book he breaks things down a slightly different way. I feel doomed to stay drawing faces because i never feel satisfied...

(Yes i know the struggle of a true artist is never satisfied with their work even if they are considered pros in their craft and are bound to keep improving)

Theres so much more i want to say and yet...

Edit: you automatically accuse me of not studying? Hmph, well i never! *holds nose up* lol

This is exactly what not to do.
All those books are trash besides the Human Anatomy one.
You can't just learn to draw manga from manga tutorial books, well you can but, you'll never make it if you do.
You have to study the fundamentals.
To be able to master everything, you have to do the real stuff first, then go onto doing whatever it is you're interested in.
Here are some links to stuff that'll actually help you.

Study the hell out of Loomis.

This book has really really helped me out.
Now get to studying the good stuff.
Might as well throw away all those other books.
Now I'm not saying I'm an expert but from experience, these books have helped me improve a LOT.

Well thank you for telling me this, although i wont be throwing them away, more like, once i learn the real basics from the source you just gave, i will use the books as just plain reference material.. sort of like an ordinary illustrations book,

Okay but by the time you've mastered the books, you probably wouldn't need the anime books or might have changed your taste.
    That's what happened to me.

When you say taste, do you mean art style?

Im already trying to aim for a slightly more "western" approach, so i dont think i might need to worry about that.

Now im not sure if this meets your standards but i tried really hard on this. Especially trying a slightly "ethnic" approach.

If all else fails...since i couldnt possibly bear myself to just throw a book away, i could always ehhh, donate them?

Oh, I won't if you don't laugh at me.
    I'm 15.
I wouldn't really know but, rumor is that the older you start, the harder you'll have to work.
I personally believe it's a myth but, don't give up and keep at it.

I suppose so, either because the younger you are, the more impressive it seems in the eyes of others. I understood that much when i was 15, back then i was good at Visualization and i had a vivid imagination, but was completely terrible at translating what i saw in my minds eye on paper.

It also diddnt help all the stress and criticism that in part became my creative demise at 17,

Its a long story that i wont talk about.

Ah well, just as long as you get back at it with strong will, you'll get to where you want to be.

wow u pretty much have all the books I bought too lol

These books are good enough I'd say. Outside of these books is just observation in the real world, and maybe some still-life practices with people

wao, maybe I should get back into drawing. I bought this Huion tablet but it's ****! I'll get one of them wacom intuos. I tried some of those "learn manga style" books and they're really garbage for 10 bucks. Money wasted.

mb you said collecting dust + not knowing where to start so I assumed you didn't look at the books.

You're going to have to force yourself to work on other things even if you're hung up on the face. It takes time to improve so don't worry if it doesn't look the way you want to.

All the learn how to draw advice is really practice drawing real life and you can do any style you want!!! Those how to draw anime/manga books will only teach you their style. I'm sure they have good points or methods you can use to your own benefit though. You could also YouTube other people's speed paints or how to draw to learn different methods.
You should learn about how colors work + lighting too. :d

Use the tablet more + you'll get better!
