I can't help but wonder - a game that is more than 10 years old, that doesn't have any demanding graphics, and still it is extremely heavy on modern pc's resources, that should be far more than enough to run it. I have really good laptop, and the moment i start 9d, even while being in the log-in screen, the cooling system starts running on highest possible heat output. Why? And is it possible to fix this?
I have the same issue, the fans are just running high due to the resources the game is hogging, it doesn't have any optimization and most likely will not. The only possible suggestion, play in window mode on a lower resolution and lower the graphics down. That's all you can do. You could go to task manager and allocate more priority to the game, it will allocate more memory and cpu process power to it than anything else on your machine.
I'm not talking about performance problems. I can run it just fine on highest settings. The problem i want to solve is not to strain the laptop so much. I can't see any reason why 9d would require so much power to run. I have 4x 4,0 ghz, 16gb ram, good graphics and so on... it shouldn't behave as if i were running witcher 3. edit: There are more issues. Despite my screen being 1080p, when i set that resolution i can't see the whole log-in screen. It's as if i were seeing only a part, roughly 70 - 80% of it.
No it's not. I recently played on a private server, which doesn't use game guard and it was all the same. edit: besides - first time i played 9d i had much weaker pc, and it was behaving the same way. If i could run something on it back then, it should be really easy to do so on my current laptop without such big strain on it.
the Reason that the heat output is higher is because the graphics output makes the "resolution" output VERY high! even running on lowest/off graphics. this happens! and on Laptops you have to think THERE IS NO WHERE FOR THE HEAT TO GO! LOL with desktops you have bigger fan and more space to cool it off with! don't matter what your set up is! question is can you dissipate the heat from the motherboard!
