I won't knock it till I try it, Netflix series from personal experience have all been good to me when I give them a chance, I won't know till I try it like so. But I do think whitewashing is becoming so common, I really do want them to take a different route and not simply copy death note to a tee with just white actors. Here's to hoping Kira wins. To replicate an anime to a "modern" looking movie is challenging & difficult to do while staying true to the entire concept of the original (Example : Dragonball Evolution [which IMO was horrible]). I'm interested to see what they can do, but I wouldn't keep my expectations high if I were you.
Don't keep your expectations high for any live action anime adaptation is my advice because you never know, even if an anime that has a premise that is hard to **** up gets adapted, somebody is going to find some way to **** it up.
